Glossybox April 2013

I love the concept of Glossybox. Not only is it a great chance to try out products but I love not knowing what is going to arrive!

This month's box is the Pearl Lowe edition...and what a pretty box it is! One to add to the storage collection.

Sunsense Daily Face SPF - full size 75g for £18.50
Nip + Fab Dry Skin Fix Body Butter in Pistachio Sundae - full size 200ml for £9.95
ModelCo Cheek + Lip Tint in Rosy Red - full size 10ml for £15
So Elixir Purple Yves Rocher Eau de Parfum - full size 50ml for £44
Essie Nail Laquer in Nice Is Nice - full size 13.5ml for £7.99

In the pot, I thought that the Nip + Fab Body Butter had quite a strong, sweet scent and pistachio isn't something I would normally opt for. However it was a lot more subtle once on my skin and applies really well. A big fan and look forward to trying some more of their range.

I have yet to try an Essie Nail Laquer so I am pleased to have received this in my box. Although it is not a shade I would pick myself I think it is a lovely Spring colour. The brush is wide which makes for easy application and seems to dry quickly with a gloss finish.  A slightly blurry swatch on my Instagram.

I am yet to try the other products in my box but look forward to using them. The sample of So Elixir has a light, floral scent and I look forward to using this. It may be one to add to my already large perfume collection!

The Essie and ModelCo products are both full size so it just shows what great value these boxes can be.

London Zoo

It's been so relaxing having the week off work. It gave me a chance to do a bit of shopping and sort some things out in the flat. Plus I took a cheeky trip to London Zoo to try out the new camera!

It's amazing what sunshine can do

Back in February, I had the joy of going to Florida for two weeks and letting the child in me free to go giddy over all things Disney! It had been 15 years since I'd last been so believe me when I say that I was practically shaking with excitement from the moment we booked it. We had a fantastic time and I want to go back already! Once all 1300 photos have been sorted, I'll share some of the magic on here.

After all the cold and miserable weather we've had in the UK recently, the warmth of the sunshine was so uplifting. A real positive Ellen emerged ready to sort her life out! So to start I'm going to work on...

...starting a blog
So there are plenty of blogs and YouTube channels that I love to keep an eye on. I enjoy hearing about the latest beauty products, seeing what people have bought and what they've been up to in their lives. It's a great internet community that I want to be an even bigger part of so I thought I'd give it a go.

...spring cleaning
I was quite lucky when I lived with my Mum as I had a pretty large bedroom, with plenty of storage. I moved in with my boyfriend last year into our lovely flat and realised how much stuff I had - some of which still remains at Mum's! Like any girl, I love a shopping trip and will always come home with things, no matter how much I try to tell myself I don't really need it. It just means that I then have to find space for it! So to try and help this little problem, for every item of clothing I buy, I need to try and find an item I no longer wear. I'm sure I can only go so far with this but I do hold on to a lot of things that don't really come out of the wardrobe often but seem to avoid being cleared out. Also I'm going to make an effort to put at least one item in a charity bag whenever we get one through the door.

…an animal career
I've always loved animals and really enjoyed when I studied Animal Management at college. I got so much hands on experience and know working with them would give me the most job satisfaction. Whilst in Florida, we got to go to Discovery Cove and swim with dolphins. Knowing the trainers get to do that every day and get paid for it just made me realise that an animal career is the one for me.

So let's see what this year brings...
